A ‘Sky Observation and Astronomy' workshop aimed at fostering scientific temper among students was organised at Veer Savarkar Ground in Mumbai's Goregaon area under the guidance of MLA Sunil Prabhu.

Conceptualised by youth leader Ankit Prabhu, the initiative saw participation from hundreds of students of Classes 8 to 10 from Goregaon's Ward 54.

Students were allowed to observe the Moon, planets and constellations through advanced telescopes, offering them a rare hands-on learning experience. Astronomy experts conducted interactive sessions, explaining space phenomena, the life cycle of stars, and career opportunities in the field.

Organisers said the workshop aimed to move beyond textbook learning and encourage experiential understanding of science. "It is important to integrate science with technology and nurture curiosity among students, who could become future scientists," they said.

The session also included laser-guided sky observation training, helping students understand celestial mapping techniques.

The free workshop was attended by local dignitaries, teachers and parents, and was appreciated for its structured and engaging format.

Attendees lauded the initiative, noting that such programmes contribute to students' academic growth while promoting scientific awareness at the grassroots level.
