The Western Railway on Thursday said that it will run a special Mumbai local train for the upcoming Indian Navy's Mumbai Marathon on November 23.
In an official statement, the Western Railway said that for the convenience of participants attending the Western Naval Command (WNC) Half Marathon.
The Half Marathon will be held on November 23 and Western Railway will run one extra special slow Mumbai local train in the early morning of the event from Virar to Churchgate, officials said.
The special service will leave Virar at 02:30 am and is scheduled to reach Churchgate at 04:12 am.
Timetable of special local train-
Indian Navy will host the 8th edition of the WNC Navy Half Marathon on Sunday, November 23, 2025, as part of the Navy Day celebrations. The event aims to foster interaction and camaraderie between naval personnel and the citizens of Mumbai.
Around 20,000 runners are expected to take part in the marathon, which features three race categories:
21 km Aircraft Carrier Run - starting at 5:00 am
10 km Destroyer Run - starting at 6:15 am
5 km Frigate Run - starting at 7:30 am
The marathon route passes through several historic locations in South Mumbai, with the start and finish point at Cross Maidan near Azad Maidan. Prize distribution will begin at 8:15 am.
Earlier, Central Railway had announced that it will operate two special suburban services in the early hours of November 23 to facilitate participants of the WNC Navy Half Marathon 2025.
According to Central Railway, the specials will run on both the Main Line and Harbour Line, with halts at all stations.
Main Line - Kalyan-CSMT Special
The train will depart from Kalyan at 02.30 hrs and arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Mumbai at 04.00 hrs.
Harbour Line - Panvel-CSMT Special
The train will leave Panvel at 02.40 hrs and reach CSMT at 04.00 hrs.
Central Railway said the services have been arranged to ensure smooth travel for runners heading to the marathon venue.
