Mumbai police geared up for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha Election in Mumbai on May 20 by increasing police presence. Around 57,000 police personnel and home guards have been deployed at polling centres. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited within 100 meters of voting booths.

The police has also deployed five Additional Police Commissioners, 25 Deputy Police Commissioners, 77 ACPs, 2,475 police officers, 22,100 police constables, and 3 Riot Control Protection Teams at polling stations.

In addition, 170 police inspectors, 5,360 constables, and 6,200 home guards will be on standby to assist emergencies. The Model Code of Conduct came into effect on May 16, 2024, and the Mumbai police has already taken action against 8,088 violators.
