Train services on the Lonavala-Karjat section were affected after a landslide occurred between Thakurvadi Cabin and Monkey Hill Cabin on Monday, Central Railway said in an update issued at 12 noon on Tuesday.
According to Central Railway, the disruption has led to the cancellation of 14 trains, while several other services have been diverted, short terminated, short originated or rescheduled.
Central Railway said the Pune-Bhuj Express (11092), scheduled to commence its journey on July 6, was cancelled.
The trains cancelled on July 7 include Pune-Solapur Intercity Express (12169), Solapur-Pune Intercity Express (12170), Pune-CSMT Indrayani Express (22106), Pune-CSMT Intercity Express (12128), Pune-CSMT Deccan Express (11008), CSMT-Pune Deccan Queen Express (12123), Pune-CSMT Pragati Express (12126), CSMT-Pune Pragati Express (12125), CSMT-Pune Sinhagad Express (11009), CSMT-Dhule Express (11011), Dhule-CSMT Express (11012) and Satara-Dadar Express (11028).
The Bhuj-Pune Express (11091), scheduled to begin its journey on July 8, has also been cancelled.
The CSMT-Kolhapur Express (11029) has been partially cancelled between CSMT and Khadki. The train will operate as per schedule from Khadki, Central Railway said.
Five trains that commenced their journeys on July 6 have been diverted. The Chennai-CSMT Express (22160), Nanded-Panvel Express (17614) and Coimbatore-LTT Express (11014) have been diverted via Daund, Manmad, Igatpuri and Kalyan.
The Velankini-Dahanu Road Special (09029) and Yesvantpur-Barmer Express (14805) have been diverted via Daund, Manmad, Jalgaon, Paldhi and Surat.
The Hubballi-Dadar Express (17317), Hyderabad-CSMT Express (22731) and Solapur-CSMT Vande Bharat Express (22226) have been short terminated at Pune.
The Dadar-Hubballi Express (17318), CSMT-Secunderabad Express (12701) and CSMT-Solapur Vande Bharat Express (22225), scheduled for July 7, will start their journeys from Pune instead of their original stations.
Central Railway also announced that the CSMT-Nanded Express (20706), scheduled to depart at 1.15 pm on July 7, has been rescheduled and will now depart at 3.15 pm.
Officials said passengers should check the latest train status before starting their journey as restoration work continues on the affected section.
A whopping 600 mm of rainfall in just 24 hours triggered multiple landslides in the Karjat-Lonavala Ghat section on the Mumbai-Pune line, severely disrupting rail traffic over the last two days, officials said. Lonavala, a popular hill station located in Pune district, recorded 670 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 7 am on Monday, as per official data.
