With a clear focus on the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2029, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a fresh list of state-level office-bearers to strengthen its organisational structure. State BJP President Ravindra Chavan on Tuesday unveiled the new team, underscoring the party's long-term strategy to expand its footprint across the state.

The appointments span key organisational roles, including Chief Spokesperson, Vice Presidents, General Secretaries, Secretaries, Treasurer, and heads of various morchas such as Yuva, Mahila, and OBC wings. The move is seen as part of a broader effort to build a robust cadre base and streamline leadership ahead of future electoral battles.

Consultations with top leadership before finalising list

Chavan stated that the appointments were finalised after extensive consultations with senior party leadership at both the central and state levels. Key figures involved in the decision-making process included BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B. L. Santhosh, and senior leader Shiv Prakash, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

He also clarified that the announcement was delayed due to the enforcement of the election code of conduct and the conduct of local self-government polls across the state.

Balancing experience and opportunity within the party

Addressing concerns over internal selection, Chavan emphasised that while many party workers have contributed significantly over the years, the number of available leadership positions remains limited.

"Every BJP worker is capable and deserving. While not everyone could be accommodated this time, those left out will be given opportunities in other roles across the party's various wings and organisational activities," he said, highlighting the party's intent to maintain inclusivity and reward grassroots contributions.

Key appointments across core positions and morchas

Among the prominent appointments, newly elected Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporator and former TV journalist Navnath Ban has been named Chief Spokesperson. The list of Vice Presidents includes leaders such as Atul Kalsekar, Bharati Pawar, Gopichand Padalkar, Sujay Vikhe Patil, and Archana Patil Chakurkar.

Niranjan Davkhare, Sanjay Kute, Madhavi Naik, Rajesh Pandey, Sunil Rane, and Yogesh Sagar have been appointed as General Secretaries, while several others have been named Secretaries to support the party's organisational expansion.

In the party's frontal organisations, Krishnaraj Mahadik has been appointed as the state BJP Yuva Morcha President, legislator Chitra Wagh will head the Mahila Morcha, and Yogesh Tilekar will lead the OBC Morcha. BJP MLA Mihir Kotecha has been appointed as the party's Treasurer.

Boost from recent local body poll success

The reshuffle comes on the back of BJP's strong performance in recent local body elections, including nagar panchayats, municipal councils, municipal corporations, zilla parishads, and panchayat samitis.

Buoyed by these results, the party has set an ambitious "shat pratishat" (100 per cent) target for the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2029, aiming to secure more than 150 seats independently. The newly announced team is expected to play a crucial role in achieving this goal by strengthening the party's grassroots presence and electoral machinery across Maharashtra.
