The Maharashtra government is ready to implement action plans prepared under the Sansadiya Sankul Vikas Pariyojana (Parliamentary Cluster Development Project), Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis said on Thursday, adding that Rs 25,000 crore has been allocated for the development of tribal areas through the initiative.

Fadnavis was speaking at the inauguration of the Parliamentary Cluster Development Project at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. He said the project is expected to contribute to the development of tribal areas by creating employment opportunities within villages, preventing migration, improving living standards, and bringing about social transformation.

CM Fadnavis stated that the development of tribal areas, improvement in citizens' living standards, employment generation, and prevention of migration are among the key objectives of the project.

He also said that it is necessary to coordinate schemes implemented by the Central and state governments for tribal areas and adopt an integrated approach to development. Instead of focusing on individual villages, clusters of villages should be developed together under the project, stated the CM.

The initiative will also include activities aimed at bringing improvement in the lives of citizens, Fadnavis said.

Project implementation begins after years of planning

According to the Maharashtra CM, the concept of the project was proposed around five to six years ago and is now being implemented.

He stated that reports indicate that the project has shown good results in Nandurbar district, with the agriculture sector benefiting significantly from the initiative. These developments have also contributed to changes in the living standards of people in the district, said the Maharashtra CM.

He also stated that two schemes prepared by the Central government for tribal areas are helping accelerate development in these regions.

According to Fadnavis, the effective implementation of schemes in sectors such as education, health, and employment would help achieve the expected results.

Fadnavis also stressed the need to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the actual beneficiaries.

Effective monitoring and control over the implementation of these schemes are equally important, he said.

Officials attend inauguration in Mumbai

Tribal Development Minister Ashok Uike, former Union Minister of State Dr Bharati Pawar, legislators Ravindra Chavan and Yogesh Sagar, former Member of Parliament (MP) Heena Gavit, Gajanan Dange of the organising institution, and Sansadiya Sankul Pariyojana coordinator V Satish were among those present at the inauguration.
