Maharashtra Janmashtami 2026 celebrations: Kalyan to witness 281 private Dahi Handi events, 720 cops deployed

As many as 380 Dahi Handi and Janmashtami events have been planned within the jurisdiction of Kalyan Police's Zone 3 for the 2026 celebrations, with police making elaborate security arrangements across the area.

According to senior police officials, the area will witness 43 Janmashtami celebrations, 56 public Dahi Handi events and 281 private Dahi Handi events. The figures have been compiled across eight police station jurisdictions.

Among the police station areas, Manpada in Dombivli has the highest number of private Dahi Handi events at 66, followed by Vishnunagar with 50, and Dombivli and Titwala with 40 each. Bazaar Peth has 20 private events, while Kolsewadi and Khadakpada have 15 each.

For maintaining law and order during the celebrations, the police have deployed one deputy DCP, three ACPs, 21 police inspectors, 63 API/PSI-rank officers, 720 police personnel and 150 Home Guards, besides two SRPF platoons.

The deployment will cover the various celebration venues and areas under Kalyan Police's Zone 3 to ensure that the festivities pass off peacefully.
