Maharashtra continued to witness hot and dry weather conditions on Wednesday, with several districts recording above-normal temperatures and no significant rainfall activity reported across the state, according to meteorological data.
Vidarbha remained the hottest region, with Chandrapur and Gondia recording a maximum temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Akola at 41 degrees Celsius and Malegaon touching 41 degrees Celsius.
Nagpur recorded a high of 40 degrees Celsius, while Wardha registered 40.5 degrees Celsius, indicating sustained heatwave-like conditions in parts of eastern Maharashtra.
In contrast, Mahabaleshwar remained the coolest location in the state with a minimum temperature of 18.2 degrees Celsius, providing relief compared to the rest of the region.
In Madhya Maharashtra, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.2 degrees Celsius, while Lohgaon and Ahilyanagar also hovered around similar levels.
Solapur reported a high of 39.3 degrees Celsius, indicating intense heat conditions in the region.
Konkan, including Mumbai, experienced humid but dry weather. In Mumbai, the island city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 29.2 degrees Celsius, while the suburbs stood at 34.8 degrees Celsius. No rainfall was recorded across Konkan stations, including Alibag, Ratnagiri and Panjim.
Marathwada also remained hot, with Parbhani at 39.2 degrees Celsius, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar at 38.9 degrees Celsius, and Dharashiv at 37.7 degrees Celsius. Nanded and Beed also reported warm conditions, with no rainfall activity observed.
Overall, the state recorded zero rainfall across all major stations, including Pune, which registered a rainfall departure of -89.7 millimetres against the seasonal normal of 89.7 millimetres, indicating a significant deficit.
The forecast for Pune suggests mainly clear skies turning partly cloudy during the afternoon or evening, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected around 36 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.
