Maharashtra continued to witness active monsoon conditions on Friday, with several regions recording light to moderate rainfall and cloudy skies prevailing across most parts of the state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast indicates continued rain activity, especially over the Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places.
For Pune (Shivajinagar), the weather forecast suggests generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain likely. However, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at a few locations in the Ghat areas, with isolated pockets likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 27 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.
As per IMD observations, several stations across Maharashtra recorded varying rainfall activity. In Mumbai, suburbs recorded 51 mm of rainfall while the island city received 37 mm.
Alibag reported 6 mm rainfall, indicating moderate coastal activity. Ratnagiri and Mahabaleshwar also recorded light rainfall, with Mahabaleshwar registering higher precipitation levels due to its Ghat location.
In Madhya Maharashtra, Pune recorded 11.6 mm of rainfall, while Lohgaon reported 13 mm. Nashik and Kolhapur also witnessed moderate showers, reflecting widespread monsoon spread across the region.
Temperature patterns remained uneven across Maharashtra. Solapur recorded the highest maximum temperature at 31.2 degrees Celsius, while Mahabaleshwar reported the lowest minimum temperature at 17.8 degrees Celsius, highlighting sharp regional variations due to terrain differences.
In Marathwada, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Parbhani recorded light rainfall activity, while parts of Nanded and Beed remained relatively dry. Vidarbha region also witnessed scattered showers, with Nagpur, Amravati and Chandrapur recording light to moderate rainfall activity.
RMC Nagpur, on Friday night, issued a nowcast yellow warning for Gondia district, forecasting thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.
Despite intermittent rainfall, Pune continues to remain below normal in seasonal rainfall. The city has recorded 106.0 mm rainfall against a normal of 174.4 mm, showing a deficit of 68.4 mm so far this season.
Weather officials have indicated that monsoon conditions are likely to remain active over Maharashtra in the coming days, with heavy rainfall spells expected in Ghat areas and intermittent showers across coastal and inland regions. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious in view of possible waterlogging and localised heavy rain events.
