Maharashtra weather update: State records high temperatures; Akola tops at 45 degrees Celsius

Large parts of Maharashtra continued to reel under intense heat on Friday, with several regions recording above-normal temperatures, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Temperature in Vidharbha region

In Vidarbha, Akola emerged as the hottest location at 45 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Amravati at 44.8 degrees Celsius and Wardha at 44.4 degrees Celsius. Other cities such as Nagpur, Chandrapur and Yavatmal also recorded temperatures above 43 degrees Celsius.

Temperature in Madhya Maharashtra

In Madhya Maharashtra, Malegaon recorded 42.6 degrees Celsius, while Solapur and Lohgaon crossed the 41-degree mark. Pune registered a maximum temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius, slightly above normal.

Cooler regions of Maharashtra

The Konkan region remained relatively cooler, with Mumbai's Colaba recording 33.0 degrees Celsius and Santacruz at 35.6 degrees Celsius. No significant rainfall was recorded across most regions during the day.

Meanwhile, Mahabaleshwar reported the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 16.3 degrees Celsius.

Thunderstorm likely in Pune

For Saturday, the Meteorological Department has forecast a mainly clear sky over Pune, turning partly cloudy by afternoon or evening, with chances of thunderstorms, lightning and very light rain.

The maximum and minimum temperatures in Pune are expected to hover around 40 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Dry conditions persist

The IMD's weather bulletin said dry conditions are likely to continue across most parts of the state, with heat levels remaining elevated in interior regions.

Mumbai records rising temperatures; Ram Mandir hottest at 36.8 degrees Celsius

Meanwhile, parts of Mumbai continued to experience heat on April 24, with Ram Mandir recording the highest maximum temperature at 36.8 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department weather update.

Other areas also saw elevated temperatures, with Vikhroli at 36.6 degrees Celsius, Vidyavihar at 35.9 degrees Celsius, Tata Power Chembur at 35.4 degrees Celsius, and Bandra and Dahisar both recording 35.1 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, IMD observatories reported a maximum temperature of 33.0 degrees Celsius at Colaba and 35.6 degrees Celsius at Santacruz. No rainfall was recorded at either station during the day.

The data indicate continued warm and dry conditions across the city, with temperatures remaining above normal in several pockets.
