Maharashtra weather update: Vidarbha continues to sizzle; Brahmapuri tops temperature chart at 42.9 degrees Celsius

Maharashtra continued to experience hot and humid weather on Friday, with Vidarbha remaining the hottest region in the state. According to the India Meteorological Department's Pune observatory, Brahmapuri in Chandrapur district recorded the state's highest maximum temperature at 42.9 degrees Celsius.

Several locations across Vidarbha reported temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, including Akola (42.0 degrees Celsius), Amravati (40.6 degrees Celsius), Buldhana (39.0 degrees Celsius), Chandrapur (40.4 degrees Celsius) and Nagpur (41.6 degrees Celsius), indicating persistent heat across the region.

Pune, western Maharashtra continue to see warm weather

In western Maharashtra, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius, while neighbouring Lohegaon registered 36.4 degrees Celsius. Kolhapur and Satara recorded 34.6 degrees Celsius and 37.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

Thunderstorm possibility in isolated areas

The IMD's forecast for Pune and adjoining areas indicated mainly clear skies becoming partly cloudy towards afternoon or evening, with a possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light rain and gusty winds in isolated places.

Rainfall activity remains subdued

Rainfall activity remained subdued across much of the state. Pune recorded no rainfall during the past 24 hours, while Dharashiv in Marathwada received 4 mm of rainfall. Officials said weather conditions will continue to be monitored, particularly in regions where isolated thunderstorm activity has been forecast.

Hot weather in Mumbai, Palghar and Thane

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and other parts of Maharashtra, predicting hot weather, rains and thunderstorms.

Mumbai witnessed warm and humid conditions, with the city observatory recording a maximum temperature of 35.0 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28.4 degrees Celsius.

The Santacruz station, which is representative of the suburbs, also recorded a maximum temperature of 35.0 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature in the Konkan region was reported from Alibag at 38.9 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai records satisfactory air quality

Despite the hot and humid weather, Mumbai's air quality remained in the 'Satisfactory' category on Friday late evening.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) SAMEER App, the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 58, indicating minimal impact on public health.
