A massive fire broke out at Artemis Electrical's factory outlet near Vasai Phata on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway late on Wednesday evening. The blaze, which initially broke out around 9.30 pm on the fourth floor of the four-storey building, later spread to the third floor.
Currently, the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation's fire brigade has reached the scene and is working to bring the blaze under control. The factory was being used for the production of textiles, and the presence of cloth has caused the fire to spread rapidly, said a local source.
