To one's utter horror, there is no speedbreaker on Paperbox Road, adjacent to Holy Family High School in Andheri West where bikers and autorikshaw drivers drive like crazy. More than 300-400 children go to school daily using that road, yet the authorities have turned a deaf ear to the situation.

There is a Club C'est La Vie (multi-storied), and Zepto distribution centre and McDonalds, etc. situated opposite each other. This is on crowded Hill Road. With all cars double-parked, there is no space for pedestrians to pass. The eco-friendly vehicles used by delivery boys occupy most of the road, waiting for a pick up. This is along one of the main thoroughfares to St Peter's Church and being a Christian locality the footfall on this road is sizable. Besides, hordes of fans walk to see Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan's residences down the road. I have vocally and loudly informed the police officers who come around in the mobile van, and they say they cannot do anything about the delivery two-wheelers as they are not registered. It gets intolerable after 8 pm. Hoping for some resolution.

A severely damaged road with a collapsed drain on Yari Road, Versova, is causing frequent traffic congestion and posing a grave risk to motorists, pedestrians, and schoolchildren. With four to five schools located nearby and heavy movement of water tankers, trucks, tempos, private vehicles, autos, and two-wheelers throughout the day, the damaged stretch has become a serious accident hazard. The authorities concerned must immediately undertake permanent repairs, restore proper drainage, and ensure regular road maintenance before this negligence results in a major tragedy.

The 7.42 am AC local from Mira Road has been reaching Churchgate perpetually late for the past so many months. Though the arrival time at Churchgate is 8.49 am, it is always late by 15-odd minutes. There is no reason given or announcements made. We do understand late running of trains on some occasions but it looks like the time table has completely changed. Will the people concerned reply?

The Nanavati Super Specialty Hospital Ambulance was earlier illegally parked near T1 Aqua Line Metro station. On my complaint on the BMC website under the abandoned vehicle category, it was removed. But, it's now found parked near the PTVA cricket academy, Gujarat Society, Vile Parle East, for the last several months and the footpath side thereof is used to urinate and throw alcohol bottles.

After Mumbaikars sent in their questions and woes to mid-day last Monday, some of the authorities concerned responded. We haven't given up on the rest. We shall continue to hold authorities accountable for the state of the city.

BMC responds: An official from the H/West ward said, "We will look into the issue, and the allegations regarding political complaints." Another civic official told mid-day, "BMC is unsure that this is a hut. By the image alone, we cannot determine the nature of this establishment. We will look into the issue and take action as necessary."

Traffic dept responds: A traffic branch official said, "The authorities, including the local traffic police and the RTO, operate regular drives against illegal autos and taxis in the city and citizens can take up their complaints about specific locations with the RTO on their helpline 1800-220-110 which is managed by the Andheri RTO."

TMC responds: An official from the TMC said, "There are no potholes on TMC controlled sections of Ghodbunder Road, but in the jurisdiction of Mira Bhayandar civic body."

BMC responds: A senior civic official told mid-day, "BMC will check if work was done as per contract or it was done arbitrarily. This will help determine why the footpath was not fixed for six months as per the allegations in your letter. Necessary action will be taken, and the footpath will be reinstated by BMC or those concerned."

Traffic police respond: DCP Traffic Ajit Borhade said, "Currently MMRDA and BMC are working on extending the Janata Colony/Jogeshwari Subway. As soon as work under this portion finishes, the authorities will take care of the divider issue too."
