Third-line project to improve capacity

The block work is being carried out as part of the Asangaon-Kasara third-line project, which forms part of the wider third and fourth-line project between Kasara and Kalyan.

The additional line is intended to separate suburban and Mail and Express traffic, improve operational flexibility and allow smoother regulation of train movements. It is also expected to support an increase in train-handling capacity once the wider project is completed and commissioned.

Central Railway said details of the blocks scheduled for October 17 and 18 would be announced later. It appealed to passengers to bear with the railway administration for the inconvenience caused by the work.
