The Mumbai police have apprehended a 14-year-old boy for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old classmate in Dahisar on Wednesday. The incident has prompted authorities to register cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to police sources, the assault occurred when the accused, a school friend of the victim, lured her to his residence under the pretext of lending her books on Tuesday. The boy, who was alone at home at the time, allegedly committed the assault.

"Both the victim and the accused are students at the same school and study in the same class," confirmed a police officer involved in the investigation. Following the incident, the victim sustained injuries and was taken to a government hospital for medical treatment by her family. Initially, the traumatised girl provided inconsistent information about the incident due to fear and threats from the accused.

"During our investigation, when we spoke with the victim separately, she revealed the truth about what had happened. The accused had threatened her with serious consequences if she disclosed the incident," the investigating officer stated. The Dahisar police began their investigation after the matter was reported by the victim's family.

"Based on the complaint filed by the victim's parents, we have registered appropriate cases under relevant sections of the BNS and POCSO Act. The minor has been apprehended and sent to the Dongri correctional facility. The investigation continues," said a senior police official.
