The Saki Naka police has arrested 4 men allegedly beating a 40--year-old man to death on Sunday over payment of Rs 125 for an ice-cream.

The three brothers, Mujahid Sultan (23), Mobin and Jahid had stepped out to buy ice-cream at Sainath dairy, Andheri at around 8.20 pm.

However, the Sainath Dairy's storekeeper refused to give them ice-cream as they already owed him Rs 125 for things purchased earlier. The denial led to a fight. A passerby Muzammil Shaikh (40) heard the argument and intervened. As the fight intensified, the brothers and their friend Shoaib Siddiqui beat Shaikh up with a wooden baton. Another bystander who intervened was also beaten up.

Shaikh was then rushed to Rajawadi Hospital where he was declared dead.

Avinash Dharma-dhikari, senior police inspector of Saki Naka police station, told the Asian Age, "The incident took place at around 8.20 pm on Sunday. The four accused, who were a part of the 10-member gang, were arrested an hour after the incident. They were allegedly creating a ruckus outside the shop over non-payment of Rs 125. We have booked the accused under section 302 of the IPC, which pertains to murder, read along with section 147 for rioting."
