Cockroach found at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar restaurant during Dr Ashok Seth’s dinner

A baby cockroach became an unexpected dinner guest at the JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar on Saturday night, leaving Fortis Healthcare chairman and noted cardiologist Dr Ashok Seth and his companions without an appetite.

Seth was dining at Romano, the Italian restaurant at the five-star hotel, when he spotted the insect crawling on their table, close to the dishes. He later shared a video of the incident on X, cheekily naming the uninvited guest "Roachie".

Issue flagged

Seth tagged FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, the FSSAI, and JW Marriott, drawing attention to the hygiene lapse. "Thankfully we are in Mr Mundhe's territory, and he most likely will look into this also," Seth wrote.

Hotel's response

Marriott Bonvoy Assist, responding to Seth's post, said the matter was being taken seriously and would be investigated. mid-day contacted the Maharashtra FDA but received no response till the time of going to press.
