Massive fire breaks out on 11th floor of Vile Parle building in Mumbai, four including child rescued

A fire broke out on the 11th floor of a multi-storey building on Baptista Road in Vile Parle (West) in Mumbai on Tuesday night, officials said, adding that emergency services rushed to the spot for a firefighting operation.

"Four people, including two women, a man and a child, were rescued and taken to Nanavati Hospital," an official said.

The fire was reported at around 10.02 pm at Shanta Bhavan Building on Church Road, near St Xavier School, according to information from the Mumbai Fire Brigade.

The blaze was reported in a ground-plus-12-storey building. The Mumbai Fire Brigade declared the incident Level I (minor) at 10.08 pm and subsequently upgraded it to Level II (moderate) at 10.16 pm.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade received the incident report at 10.02 pm, with an update issued at around 10.26 pm.

Multiple agencies at the spot

The Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, Adani, 108 Ambulance service and ward staff were mobilised following the incident.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were carried out operations at the building and later launched a cooling operation, officials said.

Further details about the cause of the fire and the extent of damage are awaited.

Fire breaks out at flat in Jaipur, seven rescued

Meanwhile, in an another incident, seven members of a family were rescued after a fire broke out in a flat on the third floor of an apartment building in Jaipur''s Vaishali Nagar area, police said, reported the PTI.

The fire broke out in a flat at Muskar Residency on Sirsi Road in Rajendra Nagar late Monday night. Preliminary investigation suggests that the blaze was caused by a short circuit, they said.

Residents of the apartment came out after noticing the flames, but the family remained trapped on the third floor as the flat got filled with smoke.

According to the PTI, on receiving information, police and fire brigade reached the spot. Policemen and fire fighters entered the smoke-filled flat to rescue the family.

An elderly woman who was unable to walk was carried out of the apartment by the police personnel, officials said.

The fire was brought under control later, the police said.
