IIT Bombay offers e-PG Diploma in Computer Science and AI amid growing demand for AI skills

The IIT Bombay's Educational Outreach is offering an e-Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CS and AI) in line with the growing role of AI in modern computing.

The outreach programme is aimed at software developers, engineers, IT professionals and data scientists who have learnt computer science either during their undergraduate studies or on the job, as well as fresh graduates with basic computer science knowledge, IIT Bombay said in a statement on Tuesday.

As per PTI, the diploma programme has been designed and delivered by IIT Bombay faculty, with Great Learning as the EdTech partner, the programme combines strong computer science foundations with contemporary developments in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

It also includes synchronous and asynchronous online learning, along with in-person campus immersion at IIT Bombay.

Prof Vinay J Ribeiro Faculty Coordinator, Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay while briefing about the diploma programmes, said, "The programme will equip learners not just to use AI tools but to understand Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at a foundational level. This deeper understanding will help them adapt, compete and excel in the increasingly AI-centric world we are entering," as cited by PTI.

IIT Bombay campus leopard with suspected eye injury tracked by five camera traps

In a separate incident, an injured leopard has been sighted on the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) campus over the past two to three months, prompting the forest department to step up monitoring and initiate plans to safely capture and treat the animal.

The leopard, which is suspected to have an eye injury, was first identified through CCTV footage shared by the IIT-B administration with the forest department. Officials installed five camera traps across the sprawling campus, which spans approximately 550 acres, to track its movements and determine the animal's condition.

A forest department official said the situation was being monitored. "Over the last two to three months, there have been sightings of a leopard with an eye injury on the IIT-B campus. The institute's administration informed us about the sightings and also shared CCTV footage of the leopard. Based on this information, we installed camera traps across the campus to track the animal's movements.
