Khar police have arrested a 42-year-old man who had allegedly been evading the police and court proceedings for nearly 21 years in connection with a theft case registered in 2005.
The accused, Muttu Krishnan Ramakrishnan Aruntuddi, a Mahim resident, was wanted in an FIR registered at Khar police station under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code. The case is pending before the 9th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Bandra East.

The police then made inquiries through their sources and learnt that the accused and his landlord had shifted to their native place in Tamil Nadu. On September 9, police received information that he had arrived in Mumbai by train.
A special surveillance and externment team subsequently detained him at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) around 10.30 am. He was produced before the concerned court for further proceedings. Police said his mother was informed about his arrest.
A police officer,
âAruntuddi had repeatedly remained absent from court proceedings, following which the court issued a proclamation against him in August 2023. Efforts to trace him at his former address in Shahunagar, Mahim, proved unsuccessful as the chawl had been demolished.'
