Central Railway, while sharing Mumbai local train updates, on Friday that it will operate a mega block on Sunday, August 2, 2026, on its Main Line and the Harbour Line.

An official statement said that the block will be operated to carry out essential engineering and maintenance work on the Mumbai suburban network.

The block will affect services on both the Main Line and the Harbour Line, with several trains being diverted, delayed or suspended, it said.

Railway officials said that the maintenance work is necessary to ensure the safety and reliability of the suburban railway network.

Main Line fast services to be diverted

A mega block will be carried out on the up and down fast lines between Matunga and Mulund stations from 11.05 am to 3.45 pm.

During the block, down fast trains leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10.36 am and 3.10 pm will run on the slow line between Matunga and Mulund, stopping at all scheduled stations before returning to the fast corridor beyond Mulund. These services are expected to arrive around 15 minutes behind schedule.

Similarly, up fast services departing Thane between 11.03 am and 3.38 pm will also be diverted onto the slow line between Mulund and Matunga before rejoining the fast line, resulting in delays of approximately 15 minutes.

Harbour Line services suspended

The Harbour Line will witness a block between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra from 11.40 am to 4.40 pm on the down line and from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm on the up line.

During this period, several Harbour Line services will remain suspended.

Down trains from CSMT towards Vashi, Belapur and Panvel, along with services towards Bandra and Goregaon, will not operate during the block hours.

Similarly, up Harbour Line services from Panvel, Belapur, Vashi, Goregaon and Bandra towards CSMT will also remain cancelled.

Special train services

To minimise inconvenience, Central Railway will operate special shuttle services between Panvel and Kurla (Platform 8) at intervals of around 20 minutes throughout the block period.

In addition, Harbour Line passengers will be permitted to travel via the Main Line and Western Railway network between 10.00 am and 6.00 pm without additional restrictions during the maintenance work.

Central Railway said the maintenance work is essential for the upkeep of railway infrastructure and the safe operation of suburban services.

"Passengers have been advised to check train schedules in advance and allow extra travel time while planning their journeys on Sunday," the Central Railway said.
