Two commuter injured after debris and mud hit train following landslide in Kasara in Maharashtra

A Mumbai local train commuters, standing on the footboard, were on Tuesday injured after debris and mud hit one of the suburban service following a landslide near Kasara station in Maharashtra, officials said.

The incident took place at around 9:15 pm, they said.

No services have been affected, said an official.

"At around 9:30 pm on Tuesday night, mud and rainwater entered a local train just before it arrived at Kasara station, causing minor injuries to two passengers. The injured were identified as, Balu Hanumanta Jadhav, 50, and Tukaram Deorao Jadhav, 54, resident of Kasara, both residents of Kasar," an official statement said.

Both were given immediate medical treatment at the Primary Health Centre in Kasara, an official said.
According to officials, the injuries were minor, and no major damage was reported.

The Central Railway said that the commuters standing near the footboard had been injured.

"The train was just entering Kasara station's platform no. 4 when the incident occurred, leading to mud and debris to enter into the train. One commuter sustained injuries to his feet. The deputy station master provided him with first aid. There have been no other repercussions. The track was declared safe by 9:35 pm," Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Dr Swapnil Nila told mid-day.
