CR to impose late-night blocks between Mumbai's Matunga and Kurla stations from June 17-25

The Central Railway's Mumbai Division on Monday announced that it will operate a series of special traffic and power blocks between Matunga and Kurla from June 17 to June 25 to facilitate the launching of girders on the Sion Road Over Bridge (Kalyan end) as part of the ongoing 5th and 6th line project between CSMT and Kurla.

Blocks scheduled across multiple nights

According to the official press release, the blocks will be implemented during midnight hours only, lasting between two to four hours per session on selected dates.

The block timings include:

June 17-18: 1.10 am to 3.10 am
June 18-19: 12.45 am to 3.45 am
June 19-20 and 20-21: 1.10 am to 2.40 am
June 21-22 to 24-25: 1.10 am to 3.10 am

The affected section will be from Matunga to Kurla on all lines.

Suburban services between CSMT and Kurla to be suspended

During the block period, suburban train services between CSMT and Kurla will not be available, causing temporary disruption on the Harbour and main line connectivity.

Several suburban services will be cancelled, short-terminated, or extended, depending on the date and operational requirement.

Key cancellations and changes in suburban train operations

On June 17-18, services such as the CSMT-Thane local (12.24 am) and Thane-CSMT local (4.04 am) will remain cancelled.

On June 18-19, additional changes include:

CSMT-Thane local at 12.24 am cancelled
Badlapur-Parel, Khopoli-Parel, and Badlapur-CSMT locals are short-terminated at Kurla
Thane-Kurla local extended up to CSMT
Mail and express trains are largely unaffected

The Central Railway has clarified that no major disruptions are expected for Mail and Express trains, except for minor regulations.

Train No. 11020 Konark Express (Bhubaneswar New Jn - CSMT) will be regulated at Kurla station between 3.28 am and 3.45 am on the affected night.

Limited cancellations over multiple nights

From June 19-20 to June 24-25, select suburban services will continue to remain cancelled, including:

CSMT-Thane local (12.24 am)
Thane-CSMT local (4.04 am)

However, Mail and Express train operations will remain unaffected during these nights.

Infrastructure upgrade for 5th and 6th line project

The Central Railway stated that the blocks are essential for the ongoing infrastructure development between CSMT and Kurla, aimed at improving suburban rail capacity and safety through the addition of 5th and 6th lines.

Passengers have been urged to cooperate with the railway administration and plan their travel accordingly.
