The Central Railway on Thursday announced that it will operate a mega block on its Main Line and Trans-Harbour Line on Sunday, June 28, to undertake essential engineering and maintenance works, affecting several suburban train services.
According to railway officials, the block on the Main Line will be carried out on the UP and DOWN slow lines between Matunga and Mulund stations from 11.05 am to 3.55 pm.
During the block period, DOWN slow local services departing CSMT between 10.14 am and 3.32 pm will be diverted to the DOWN fast line between Matunga and Mulund, halting at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, BhandUP and Mulund before returning to the slow line. These services are expected to arrive at their destinations around 15 minutes behind schedule.
Similarly, UP slow services leaving Thane between 11.07 am and 3.51 pm will be diverted via the UP fast line between Mulund and Matunga, with halts at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla and Sion. These trains are also expected to run approximately 15 minutes late.
Central Railway said all local trains arriving at or departing from CSMT between 11 am and 5 pm may reach their destinations around 15 minutes behind schedule.
On the Trans-Harbour Line, a block will be operated between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm. During this period, services on the UP and DOWN Trans-Harbour corridor between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will remain suspended.
As a result, trains for Vashi, Nerul and Panvel departing Thane between 10.35 am and 4.07 pm, as well as services towards Thane departing Panvel, Nerul and Vashi between 10.25 am and 4.09 pm, will remain cancelled.
Railway officials said the maintenance block is necessary for infrastructure upkeep and passenger safety. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and expect delays and cancellations on affected routes.
The Central Railway's Mumbai Division on Wednesday announced that it will operate a special traffic and power block during the intervening night of June 27-28 to facilitate the de-launching of an 'N' type truss at the south-east end (Karjat side) FOB for the ongoing 3rd and 4th line work between Kalyan and Badlapur stations.
The block will be in effect from 1.20 am to 3.50 am on June 28 on the Up and Down South East line between Kalyan and Vangani (excluding both stations), officials said.
