In view of enhancing commuter convenience, Mumbai Metro tickets are now available on the Rapido app. The integration, powered by the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), allows passengers to book QR-based metro tickets seamlessly for Metro Lines 2A, 2B, 7, and 9.

As per the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL), with this feature commuters can skip long queues and opt for a completely cashless ticketing experience. Users simply need to open the app, book their ticket, and travel without any physical interaction at ticket counters.

The introductory offers have also been rolled out. New users on Rapido can avail themselves of their first metro ride free (up to Rs 50), while existing users can get a 50 per cent discount (up to Rs 10) on their first metro ticket booked through the platform.

The initiative by the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd is part of a broader push by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to strengthen digital public infrastructure and improve urban mobility.

After launching the Mumbai One App as a common mobility platform, MMRDA integrated metro services with ONDC in December, expanding accessibility across multiple digital platforms.

Maha Mumbai Metro ticketing is currently available across 16 applications

Currently, Maha Mumbai Metro ticketing is available on over 16 apps, including Uber, WhatsApp, ixigo, and RedBus, among others. MMMOCL also said that more platforms are expected to be added in the near future.

While posting on social media platform X, MMMOCL also said that the move aligns with the vision of Digital India, aiming to provide commuters with greater choice, seamless connectivity, and an integrated travel experience.

With this expansion, Mumbai's metro network continues to move towards smarter, faster, and more commuter-friendly travel solutions.
