A 24-year-old woman student of Mithibai College in Vile Parle literally took matters into her own hands after a man started allegedly leering at and stalking her on Monday evening. The student dragged the alleged molester by the hair inside the college compound, where he was soundly beaten, before the Juhu police arrived to arrest him.
The incident occurred between 5.30 pm and 6 pm, when the student was heading to a snack shop with two women friends. "This is when the accused, a resident of Nehru Nagar, Vile Parle West, started stalking them. He also passed lewd comments," a police officer said
>> Students should inform college authorities, parents, and their friends
>> They must also call the police on the women's emergency helpline no. 103
>> Also, citizens in distress can call 100 or 112
According to the police, after the accused started abusing the women and her, the student swung into action. "She first reprimanded the accused verbally and then grabbed him by the hair and dragged him onto the campus, where several students had gathered. The woman then cried out for help," a police officer explained
âAll victims should immediately inform the police in such situations and register an FIR against harassers. The police are always at hand to help women. We will take action'
