Widespread monsoon showers continued across Maharashtra on Wednesday, bringing steady rainfall and cooler temperatures to Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and several other parts of the state.
Weather officials said cloudy skies and light to moderate rain are expected to continue over the next few days, with isolated places likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
While Mumbai continued to receive regular rainfall, Pune has emerged as one of the wettest cities this monsoon season.
According to official weather data from the Shivajinagar observatory, Pune has recorded 457.9 mm of seasonal rainfall so far, compared with its normal seasonal average of 205.6 mm.
This represents a surplus of 252.3 mm, making this year's monsoon significantly wetter than usual.
During the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Wednesday, Pune received 84.8 mm of rainfall, followed by another 15.1 mm later in the day. Relative humidity remained very high, ranging between 95 and 97 per cent.

In Pune, the maximum temperature reached 24.7 degrees Celsius, around 4.3 degrees Celsius below normal, while Mumbai's Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum of 29.3 degrees Celsius.
Minimum temperatures in both cities remained close to 23 degrees Celsius, providing relatively cool conditions for early July.
Several other parts of Maharashtra also received moderate to heavy rainfall.
- Nashik recorded 22 mm of rain with a maximum temperature of 26.3 degrees Celsius.
- Buldhana received 43 mm of rainfall.
- Bramhapuri recorded the state's highest daytime temperature at 32.6 degrees Celsius.
Mahabaleshwar remained the coolest location, with a minimum temperature of 18.6 degrees Celsius.
Weather department officials expect the current wet spell to continue.
Maximum temperatures are likely to remain around 26 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are expected to stay close to 23 degrees Celsius across much of the region.
Residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas, have been advised to monitor official weather updates as isolated locations could experience intense rainfall and localised flooding.
