Mumbai rains: Vikhroli, Powai and Bhandup record over 140 mm rainfall; check area-wise figures

Heavy monsoon showers continued to lash Mumbai on Wednesday, with the eastern suburbs recording an average rainfall of 107 mm and the western suburbs 95 mm between 8 am and 8 pm, according to data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The city recorded an average rainfall of 56 mm during the 12-hour period, while several locations received more than 140 mm of rain. The India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Automatic Rain Gauge (ARG) network also recorded widespread heavy rainfall across the city till 5.30 pm.

As per the BMC's rainfall update for the period between 8 am and 7 pm, the highest rainfall was recorded at Tagore Nagar Municipal School in Vikhroli, which received 146.4 mm of rain.

Other areas in the eastern suburbs that witnessed intense rainfall included Paspoli Powai Municipal School in Powai (142.8 mm), S Ward Office (141.6 mm), Mithagar Municipal School in Mulund (128.8 mm), and Gawanpada Fire Station (128.6 mm).

The western suburbs also witnessed heavy rainfall during the 11-hour period. Nariyalwadi School in Santacruz recorded the highest rainfall at 139.2 mm, followed by SWM Santacruz Workshop (136.4 mm), Andheri Fire Station (127 mm), Malpa Dongari Municipal School, Andheri (126.4 mm), and Cooper Hospital (122.2 mm).

In the island city, rainfall was comparatively lower. The F-North Ward Office recorded the highest rainfall at 76.8 mm, followed by the G-South Ward Office (75.8 mm), B Nadkarni Park Municipal School, Wadala (73.6 mm), F-South Ward Office (69.8 mm), and SWD Workshop, Dadar (68.4 mm).

According to the IMD's Automatic Rain Gauge (ARG) data recorded between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, Juhu Airport received 116 mm of rainfall, while Vikhroli recorded 112.5 mm. Other locations that received significant rainfall included Ram Mandir (96.5 mm), Bandra (92.5 mm), Vidyavihar (91 mm), Sion (65.5 mm), Tata Power, Chembur (42 mm), and Byculla (36.5 mm).
