Less than two weeks after this paper highlighted the unsafe and congested approach road outside Prabhadevi (formerly Elphinstone Road) station amid the ongoing bridge demolition works, authorities have cleared the stretch.

The move brings relief to thousands of daily commuters who were forced to negotiate a narrow, muddy pathway lined with construction material and heavy machinery, as mid-day had reported on June 30.

Following the report, the approach road leading to the station has been cleared of obstructions, significantly improving pedestrian movement. Authorities have also erected barricades around the demolition site to separate commuters from ongoing construction activity.

"The difference is clearly visible. Earlier, there was barely any space to walk because of the construction material and mud. Now the pathway is clean, open and the barricades ensure we are not walking right next to the demolition work," said Pradip Jagtap, a commuter.

Another commuter, Mukesh Makhija, said, "We are happy that the issue was addressed, thanks to mid-day. The report highlighted a genuine problem faced by thousands of commuters, and it is good to see the authorities respond. However, the authorities should be more proactive in such situations."
