Traffic movement on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will be partially suspended on Thursday (June 18) between noon and 2 pm due to scheduled rockfall prevention maintenance work near Adoshi Tunnel, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) said on Wednesday.

The maintenance activity will involve the removal of stones trapped in safety nets installed at Km 41/000 on the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Heavy vehicles to remain suspended during block

During the two-hour window, the movement of heavy and large vehicles will be completely restricted on the Bor Ghat section of the expressway to ensure commuter safety.

On the Pune-Mumbai stretch, heavy vehicles will be restricted from Km 59/000, while on the Mumbai-Pune stretch, restrictions will apply from Km 30/000.

Diversions arranged for light motor vehicles

Light motor vehicles and passenger buses travelling from Pune to Mumbai will be diverted via a connecting link road from Km 59/000 towards Mumbai.

Similarly, vehicles travelling from Mumbai to Pune will be rerouted via a connecting link road from Km 39/000 towards Pune.

Vehicles coming from Lonavala and Khandala towards Mumbai will be stopped at Km 45/000 during the maintenance period.

Advisory for commuters

The MSRDC has appealed to motorists to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with traffic arrangements.

In case of emergencies or assistance, commuters may contact the Expressway Control Room at 9822498224 or the Highway Police at 9833498334.

The authority stated that the temporary restrictions are necessary to ensure safety during critical maintenance work on the expressway.

Multiple cars collide on Mumbai-Pune Expressway missing link, traffic hit

A major accident involving multiple vehicles was reported on the Missing Link section of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Wednesday. The collision led to traffic disruption on the busy corridor as emergency teams and highway authorities reportedly rushed to the scene, officials said.
