Passengers can now book Shareable UTS Season Tickets through the RailOne app, giving registered users the option to book tickets for themselves as well as for other passengers, an official statement said on Friday.
The new facility has been introduced to make the ticketing process more convenient and further modernise railway ticketing services.
According to a press release issued by Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek, a registered RailOne user can book one season ticket for themselves and up to five additional season tickets for family members or any other person.
The existing facility for booking multiple journey tickets in the Mumbai suburban area, along with other services available through the RailOne app, will continue under the existing rules.
Users must be at least 18 years old to book a season ticket for themselves.
A passenger or beneficiary for whom a season ticket is booked by another user must be at least five years old.
This means registered users can use the facility to book season tickets for eligible family members or other passengers.

For a Shareable Season Ticket booked for oneself, successful geo-fencing verification is mandatory. The ticket will be valid from the date it is booked.
If the ticket is booked for another passenger, its validity will begin from the day after the booking date.
Passengers can travel by carrying either a clear and legible printed copy of the Shareable Season Ticket or its PDF version displayed on a mobile device.
The ticket must contain valid details and clearly show the passenger's photograph. The photograph must also be digitally embedded in the QR code.
The photograph visible on the ticket and the photograph embedded in the QR code must match each other and the passenger presenting the ticket.
Railway authorities have clarified that invoices generated through the RailOne app, booking receipts and copies of UTS paper tickets will not be accepted as valid travel documents in place of a Shareable Season Ticket.
Passengers must therefore ensure that they carry the valid Shareable Season Ticket while travelling.
Passengers must keep QR codes readable
Passengers have been advised to keep their ticket and QR code clear, intact and readable throughout their journey.
If a QR code is damaged, altered, unreadable or tampered with, its authenticity may not be established.
In such cases, the passenger may be treated as travelling without a valid ticket and could face penalties under the applicable railway rules.
The Shareable UTS Season Ticket facility is an additional passenger service available through the RailOne app.
The facility is intended to make season ticket booking easier for passengers who need to arrange travel for family members or other eligible passengers, officials said.
