In a bid to inspire students from rural regions to engage in diverse educational programs, Mumbai University is launching a new centre for its distance learning initiatives in Palghar. The Centre of Distance and Online Education (CDOE) will establish an office at Sonopant Dandekar College in Tembhode, where officials anticipate close to 1000 enrollments for the upcoming academic year.

Dr Shivaji Sargar, director, CDOE.
"The university has existing centres in Ratnagiri and Sawantwadi, with nearly 2000 students enrolled in those locations. We are optimistic that students from areas like Palghar and Boisar will take advantage of these multi-skill courses and dual degree offerings,"

On-site materials

Distance learning centres enable students to undertake higher education remotely, yet there are instances when they need to visit the centres to obtain essential documents and course materials. To ensure that students living far off don't have to make their way to Kalina, the Palghar centre will also stock all course materials on-site.

Courses except…

At the new centre, students will have access to all courses offered by the CDOE, except for those in psychology and subjects related to health sciences. This initiative follows recent updates to UGC regulations concerning health courses from the previous year.
