Mumbai is expected to experience partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of light rain on Friday, according to the latest weather forecast issued for the city.
The city recorded varying amounts of rainfall between 8 am on September 10 and 8 am on September 11. The eastern suburbs received the highest average rainfall at 16.93 mm.
The city recorded 2.62 mm of rainfall, while the western suburbs received 2.21 mm during the same period.
Mumbai will witness a high tide of 4.65 metres at 12 noon on Friday. Another high tide of 4.47 metres is expected at 12.22 am on September 12.
The low tide is expected at 6.07 pm on Friday, when the tide level is forecast to reach 0.59 metres. Another low tide of 0.71 metres is expected at 6.12 am on September 12.
Residents in low-lying areas and those travelling along the coast are advised to remain alert during periods of rain and around high tide.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department's Centre in Bhopal has issued a nowcast warning for moderate to light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rain across several districts of Madhya Pradesh in the coming few hours.
Several districts of Madhya Pradesh observed a recess in the persistent rain spell during the past two days. According to the forecast released late Thursday evening, moderate thunderstorm with lightning and moderate rain is likely over Chhatarpur (including Khajuraho), Panna, Katni, Singrauli, Sidhi, Anuppur (including Amarkantak), Dindori, Mandla (including Kanha), Balaghat, Chhindwara, Pandhurana (including Pench), Narmadapuram (including Pachmarhi) and Raisen (including Bhimbetka and Sanchi).
Rainfall intensity in these areas is expected to range between 5 and 15 mm per hour, with a 30 to 60 per cent probability of cloud-to-ground lightning. Light thunderstorm with lightning and light rain is predicted over Bhopal (including Bairagarh), Rajgarh, Vidisha, Ashoknagar, Datia, Bhind, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Orchha, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Jabalpur, Satna, Chitrakoot, Maihar, Rewa, Mauganj, Umaria and Shahdol districts during the midnight hours. Rainfall in these regions is likely to remain below 5 mm per hour, with less than 30 per cent chance of lightning.
