Mumbai weather update: City's AQI remains satisfactory at 79; temperature likely to touch 33 degrees Celsius

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted hazy conditions in Mumbai during the morning hours of Monday, with mainly clear skies expected by the afternoon and evening.

The city's maximum temperature is likely to hover around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may settle near 22 degrees Celsius.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) SAMEER app, Mumbai's Air Quality Index (AQI) on Monday stood at 79, which falls in the ‘satisfactory' category and shows an improvement compared to the past three days.

Maharashtra weather update: IMD issues yellow alert several districts across state

As per the district forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department, several districts across Maharashtra are likely to witness rainfall this week.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Sholapur, Parbhani, Latur, Dharashiv and Chandrapur, predicting heavy rainfall during the week.

For Monday, the department has forecast light rain and thundershowers in these districts, accompanied by lightning, gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, and light to moderate rainfall at isolated places.

Additionally, Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik, the Ghats of Nashik, and several other districts have also been placed under yellow alert for Monday and the coming days.

Temperature across Maharashtra

Several parts of Maharashtra continued to record above-normal temperatures on Monday, according to IMD data.

Among the hottest locations in the state:

Malegaon recorded 39.8 degrees Celsius
Jeur - 39.5 degrees Celsius
Sholapur - 39.0 degrees Celsius
Parbhani - 38.8 degrees Celsius
Osmanabad - 38.4 degrees Celsius

In contrast, the hill station Mahabaleshwar remained the coolest among the listed stations with a maximum temperature of 29.2 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai weather conditions

Mumbai witnessed relatively moderate temperatures compared to the interior districts.

IMD observatory data shows:

Mumbai's Colaba recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius, slightly below normal. Santacruz recorded 31.9 degrees Celsius.

However, minimum temperatures remained above normal, indicating warmer nights:

Colaba - 25.5 degrees Celsius
Santacruz - 23.0 degrees Celsius

Elsewhere in the state:

Aurangabad - 37.2 degrees Celsius
Jalgaon - 37.0 degrees Celsius
Satara - 36.7 degrees Celsius
Sangli - 36.3 degrees Celsius

Humidity levels

Humidity levels varied across regions. Coastal areas such as Dahanu and Mumbai recorded high morning humidity of around 88-89 per cent, while interior districts such as Aurangabad experienced comparatively lower humidity.

Overall, IMD data indicate that interior districts of Maharashtra continue to experience temperatures above seasonal averages, while coastal regions remain relatively moderate but humid.
