Mumbai is expected to witness mainly clear skies on Wednesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting maximum and minimum temperatures of around 35 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, the city's air quality remained in the âSatisfactory' category on Wednesday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board's Sameer App. Mumbai recorded an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 60. Air quality in this category may cause minor breathing discomfort to sensitive groups.
Among key areas in the city, Deonar recorded the highest AQI at 99, followed by Bandra Kurla Complex at 72 and Andheri East at 71.
Borivali East reported an AQI of 68, while Chembur stood at 62. Colaba and Byculla recorded comparatively better air quality levels with an AQI of 54 each.
In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Thane recorded an AQI of 96, followed by Kalyan at 92 and Navi Mumbai at 74 on Wednesday. According to the Sameer App, all three locations remained in the âSatisfactory' air quality category.
Maharashtra continued to reel under intense heat conditions on Wednesday, with several districts recording maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD's weather report issued at 8.30 am.
Jalgaon emerged as the hottest location in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 45.5 degrees Celsius, which was 3.7 degrees above normal.
Beed followed closely at 44 degrees Celsius, while Aurangabad recorded 43.6 degrees Celsius and Ahmednagar touched 43 degrees Celsius.
Parbhani logged 43.1 degrees Celsius, while Malegaon recorded 43.8 degrees Celsius. Nashik and Satara also witnessed soaring temperatures at 41.2 degrees Celsius and 41.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Solapur recorded 41.8 degrees Celsius, while Udgir registered 41 degrees Celsius.
In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, temperatures remained relatively moderate compared to interior Maharashtra. Mumbai's Colaba observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius, while Santacruz logged 34.4 degrees Celsius.
Humidity levels remained high in the city, with Colaba recording 84 per cent relative humidity at 8.30 am and Santacruz recording 76 per cent.
Coastal regions also experienced humid weather conditions. Ratnagiri recorded 89 per cent humidity, while Dahanu logged 80 per cent and Harnai recorded 75 per cent.
Minimum temperatures across parts of Marathwada and central Maharashtra also remained above normal. Beed recorded a minimum temperature of 29.5 degrees Celsius, while Parbhani registered 29.8 degrees Celsius and Jalgaon recorded 29 degrees Celsius.
The IMD data showed that most regions across Maharashtra continued to record temperatures above normal levels, indicating persistent heatwave-like conditions in several districts.
