The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad districts over the next four days, forecasting hot and humid conditions in isolated pockets, even as parts of the state are likely to witness rain and thunderstorms.
According to the IMD bulletin issued at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region will experience hot and humid weather until Saturday, with dry conditions expected on Sunday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Wednesday. In the next 48-hour period, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be between 27 and 35 degrees Celsius.
In Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, hot and humid conditions are likely with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers during the afternoon or evening on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate rainfall and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are expected at isolated places on Thursday and Friday.
Parts of the Western Ghats, including Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Pune districts, are also likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning, moderate rainfall and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated locations on these two days.
Several districts in western Maharashtra and Marathwada, including Beed, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, and Solapur, along with parts of Vidarbha, may also receive thunderstorms and rain over the next two days.

Temperatures are expected to remain on the higher side, leading to discomfort, particularly during the evening hours.
The IMD has issued impact-based forecasts (IBF) for thunderstorm and possible heavy rainfall activity in vulnerable areas.
Residents have been advised to avoid taking shelter under tall trees or near weak structures during thunderstorms, unplug electrical appliances during stormy weather, and avoid working in open fields.
Farmers have been asked to complete harvesting of matured crops and store them safely. Young plants should be supported to prevent damage due to strong winds.
The forecast and warnings are valid from 8:30 am IST of the day till 8:30 am IST of the following day.
