Mumbai on Thursday woke up to a warm and humid morning. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the island city experiences a minimum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius at the Colaba observatory, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius.
According to weather data released by IMD Mumbai on June 4, no rainfall was recorded at either of the city's primary weather stations during the 24 hours ending Thursday morning. Following heavy pre-monsoon showers earlier on Wednesday, Colaba registered 0.0 mm rainfall, while Santacruz also reported 0.0 mm precipitation on Thursday, June 4.
Despite the dry start to the day, IMD has also forecast the possibility of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms later in the day, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.
The weather forecasting agency, Mumbai, is likely to expect the partly cloudy conditions are expected to provide temporary relief from the heat, though humidity levels are likely to remain elevated.
According to rainfall data recorded between 7 am and 8 am, earlier on June 3, Mumbai's island city received 0.96 mm of rainfall, while the western suburbs recorded 9.84 mm, and the eastern suburbs received 1.25 mm.
Versova on Wednesday received the highest rainfall at 69 mm, followed by Vile Parle with 52 mm.
Andheri East received 49 mm of rainfall, while Andheri West recorded 46 mm. Other areas, such as Vile Parle, registered 33 mm, and Santacruz received 30 mm. In the eastern suburbs, Chembur recorded 12 mm of rainfall during the same period.
Following the rains of the previous days, Mumbai's air quality remained in the 'satisfactory' category on Thursday.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) Sameer App, the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 51, indicating minimal impact on public health.
Air quality varied across different parts of the city, with most monitoring stations recording AQI levels in the good to satisfactory range.
Bandra Kurla Complex recorded an Air Quality Index of 54, Borivali 48, Byculla 62, Andheri 34, Chembur 44, Colaba 47 and Ghatkopar 61.
