Jainab Ansari, who lost her three kids in the Lucky compound collapse, delivered the baby girl on April 3, who passed away on Saturday night

The ray of happiness for the Ansari couple was tragically short-lived. A year after they lost their three kids in the horrific building collapse, they were blessed with the birth of a baby girl on April 3.

The baby was born in 32 weeks and was kept on ventilator by the doctors at DY Patil hospital (Please click here or on the image above)

Unfortunately, the infant caught a lung infection and even after keeping her on ventilator, she could not be saved. The newborn passed away on Saturday night.

Jainab Ansari was one of the survivors in the Lucky compound building that collapsed on April 4, 2013. She gave birth to a girl on April 3 who was premature and admitted in the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Nerul's Dr DY Patil hospital.

"The mother had diabetes and the child was born premature. She suffered from convulsions and had to be put on the ventilator. Later, she developed lung infection and on Saturday night she passed away," said a doctor from the hospital.

The mother was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday afternoon; however, she has not been informed about the death of their child by her husband. Jainab, who is unaware of the tragedy, believes her child has been shifted to a bigger hospital for treatment. "Since I'm better now, the doctors discharged me and I'm back home," she told mid-day.

Her husband, Mohammad Ansari said that it was a conscious decision not to inform his wife. "This was her first C-section delivery and she is in a lot of pain. After the delivery, she was in the hospital for more than a week.

If we tell her about the child, she may not be able to handle the news. As it is, I am depressed about the baby's death. We have already lost three kids in the traumatising building collapse and the infant was a ray of hope for us. Now she has been taken away from us as well."
