To make it easier for citizens to report corruption, the Navi Mumbai unit of the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has stepped up awareness about its toll-free helpline 1064 and WhatsApp number 99203 51064. Citizens have been urged to immediately report any public servant demanding a bribe instead of paying it.
The campaign is being promoted through posters and social media. The ACB has assured complainants that their identity will remain confidential. Citizens can visit the ACB office, call the Navi Mumbai office on 022-27833344 or send complaints by email. The campaign carries the message: "Bribe-free Navi Mumbai - Our City, Our Responsibility."

The drive follows a series of successful trap operations by the Navi Mumbai ACB under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmraj Sonke. In recent months, the bureau trapped officials from City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited in separate bribery cases and arrested a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited officer posted in Taloja while allegedly accepting illegal gratification from a complainant.
The ACB reiterated that both giving and accepting bribes are offences under the law. Citizens have been advised not to negotiate or hand over money before informing the bureau.

âCitizens should never succumb to illegal demands for money. They should immediately contact the ACB through our toll-free number, WhatsApp or by visiting our office. We assure complete confidentiality of every complainant, and our officers act swiftly after verifying the information. Public participation is the biggest weapon against corruption.'
Sachin Raje, social activist
âMany citizens hesitate to approach the ACB due to fear of harassment or believing no action will be taken. The toll-free number and WhatsApp facility make reporting more accessible.'
Madhu Shankar, social activist
âTechnology can play a key role. Awareness about confidential reporting through a phone call or WhatsApp could encourage more citizens to come forward.'
