A newly constructed cantilevered viewing deck at the popular Dabhosa Waterfall in Maharashtra's Palghar district will be opened to the public on August 15, with the district administration stepping up preparations to ensure visitor safety and smooth crowd management ahead of the inauguration.
Officials said the administration is putting the final touches to the tourism infrastructure and has urged visitors not to access the viewing deck before it is formally inaugurated.
The cantilevered viewing deck has been constructed at Dabhosa Waterfall, one of Palghar district's popular tourist destinations, to provide visitors with a safer and more scenic vantage point to experience the waterfall.
Officials said the facility is expected to enhance the overall visitor experience while improving safety at the site, which attracts large crowds, particularly during the monsoon season.
The inauguration of the viewing deck is scheduled for August 15.
According to the district administration, efforts are underway to ensure that all essential safety and operational arrangements are in place before the structure is opened to the public.
These include preventive safety measures, crowd management systems and adequate parking facilities to handle the expected influx of visitors.
Officials said the administration is focusing on ensuring that the infrastructure is fully operational and capable of managing tourist movement safely from the day of its inauguration.
The district administration has appealed to citizens to refrain from using the cantilevered viewing deck until the official inauguration ceremony takes place.
Authorities said the restriction has been imposed to allow engineers and officials to complete the remaining preparations and safety checks without disruption.
The administration also cautioned that unauthorised access to the structure before its formal opening should be avoided in the interest of public safety.
District officials said any violation of the instructions regarding premature access to the viewing deck would invite disciplinary action against the officials concerned.
According to the administration, the Superintending Engineer and other staff responsible for the project could face action if the directives are not followed.
The instructions were issued during a review meeting chaired by Palghar Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik on Thursday, where officials assessed the preparedness for the August 15 inauguration and reviewed arrangements related to safety, crowd control and visitor amenities.
