A massive fire broke out in a cloth godown in Maharashtra's Thane district shortly after midnight on Thursday, officials said, reported news agency PTI.

No one was injured in the blaze, which erupted at the godown located in a densely populated complex at Kalher in the Bhiwandi area, they said, reported PTI.

The Thane control room reported the blaze to the disaster management cell at 12.46 am, the officials said, reported PTI.

After being alerted, fire personnel from the Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation and the Thane Municipal Corporation rushed to the spot, reported PTI.

The blaze was extinguished by 3.30 am and cooling operations were underway, Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Fire erupts on 28th floor of Mumbai high-rise; none hurt

In another incident, a fire broke out on the 28th floor of a 36-storey residential building in Mumbai suburb of Kandivali (East) on Wednesday, but no injuries were reported in the blaze, civic officials said, reported PTI.

The blaze was reported at the Gokul Concorde building at 7.54 pm, they said, adding a cause was not yet known.

At least four fire engines, other vehicles and equipment of the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) were dispatched to the spot and the blaze was doused after two-and-a-half hours of efforts, a civic official said, reported PTI.

Along with Fire Brigade teams, Mumbai police, Adani Electricity personnel, a '108' service ambulance and local Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) ward staff were mobilised at the spot, reported PTI.

The fire was confined to electric wiring, furniture and other materials in a flat on the 28th floor of the 36-storey residential structure, according to the official.

"No one was injured in the blaze," the official said.

Fire breaks out at company in Digha MIDC

Meanwhile, a fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon at a company located in Digha industrial area and was quickly brought under control, officials said, reported PTI.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's (NMMC) Disaster Management Cell received information about the incident at 1.30 pm, said disaster control chief Sachin Kadam, reported PTI.

The fire had erupted on the premises of Sulzer Pumps India Pvt Ltd, and a fire engine and water bowser from Airoli Fire Station were dispatched, he said, reported PTI.

The blaze was brought under control in about 45 minutes and cooling operations were underway, said Kadam.

There were no reports of casualties and the exact cause of the fire was yet to be determined, he said.
