Mumbai CSMT redevelopment: Four trains to remain short-terminated till September 5; check details

Central Railway has extended the traffic and power block at Platform 16 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) till September 5, as Mumbai CSMT redevelopment work continues.

The extension will affect four Mail/Express trains, which will continue to be short-terminated at Dadar and Thane instead of CSMT during the period.

Four trains to be short-terminated

According to Central Railway, the following trains will continue to terminate short until September 5:

At Dadar:

12810 Howrah - CSMT Express
12112 Amravati - CSMT Express
22120 Madgaon - CSMT Tejas Express

At Thane:

12134 Mangaluru - CSMT Express

Passengers travelling on these services have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and make arrangements for onward travel from Dadar or Thane.

Block extended for fifth time

The latest extension marks the fifth extension of the traffic and power block at CSMT.

The block was initially imposed from February 1 to April 26, for 85 days.

It was subsequently extended up to May 19, June 13, August 5 and August 21. With the latest extension, the block will now remain in force until September 5, taking its total duration to 218 days against the originally planned 85 days.

Redevelopment work continues at CSMT

The extended block has been necessitated by essential foundation and infrastructure work at Platforms 16 and 17. The work is being carried out by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) as part of the larger Mumbai CSMT redevelopment.

Central Railway said the traffic and power blocks are required to facilitate infrastructure development and modernisation works at the station.

The railway administration has appealed to passengers to cooperate with the authorities and plan their journeys accordingly during the extended block. It also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the changes.

CR to operate night block at Diva on Friday

Meanwhile, Central Railway on Friday said that it will operate a special traffic and power block at Diva station on three consecutive nights to facilitate the construction of the Kalyan End Foot Over Bridge (FOB).

According to an official statement, the block will be carried out from 1.20 am to 3.20 am, for two hours, on the nights of August 21-22, August 22-23 and August 23-24, 2026.

The special block will be undertaken on the Up and Down slow lines between Kalva and Dombivli.

The work involves construction of the Kalyan End FOB at km 42/128-130 at Diva station. The traffic and power block have been planned to allow the required infrastructure work to be carried out safely.
