The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) will organise its next âLokshahi Din (Public Grievance Day)' on June 1, and has urged citizens to submit their applications and representations by May 18 to ensure their complaints are addressed.
According to the civic body, citizens must file their complaints at the municipal corporation headquarters or at the Citizen Facilitation Centre in two copies at least 15 days prior to the scheduled day. Each submission must be accompanied by Form-1(B), which will be made available at the facilitation centre.
The TMC has clarified that the process is being followed as per a Maharashtra government circular dated September 26, 2012. As per the guidelines, no complaints will be accepted on the day of Lokshahi Din itself. Citizens are required to submit their grievances in advance so that the concerned departments can study the issues and come prepared with proper replies.
Officials said that only those representations will be considered at the headquarters-level Lokshahi Din which have already been raised at the ward-level Lokshahi Din but have not seen any action for at least one month. Applicants must clearly mention the token number received during the ward-level submission while filing their complaint at the headquarters.
The civic body has also specified that each application should contain only one complaint. Submissions with multiple grievances will not be accepted.
The TMC has listed several categories of applications that will be rejected outright. These include:
Lokshahi Din is a flagship citizen-centric initiative of the Maharashtra government aimed at strengthening democracy at the grassroots level. It provides a direct platform for residents to present their problems before senior civic officials and seek time-bound solutions. The monthly exercise has helped thousands of citizens get their long-pending issues resolved, especially related to water supply, road repairs, drainage, street lights, and garbage collection.
The TMC has appealed to all Thane residents to strictly follow the guidelines so that their genuine grievances can be taken up and resolved effectively. Citizens have been advised to prepare their complaints clearly, attach all supporting documents, and submit them well in advance.
For any queries regarding the submission process, residents can contact the Citizen Facilitation Centre at TMC headquarters.
