Several parts of Thane will experience a 24-hour water supply disruption starting Thursday afternoon due to maintenance work being carried out by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), according to the Thane Municipal Corporation.
The civic body said the shutdown will begin at 12 pm on May 7 and continue until 12 pm on May 8. The work involves urgent repairs and upgradation of Barvi gravity pipelines 1, 2 and 3 at the reservoir of the Jambhul Water Treatment Plant.
According to the Thane Municipal Corporation, water supply will remain completely suspended in areas under the Diva, Mumbra (excluding some parts of ward numbers 26 and 31), and Kalwa ward committees during this period.
In addition, a 24-hour water cut will affect Rupadevi Pada, Kisan Nagar No. 2, Nehru Nagar in the Wagle ward committee, and Lower Kolshet village under the Manpada ward committee, the civic body said.
The Thane Municipal Corporation has cautioned that water pressure may remain low for one to two days after supply is restored.
Residents have been advised to store sufficient water in advance and use it sparingly, the Thane Municipal Corporation said, urging citizens to cooperate during the maintenance period.
The drinking water supply to six wards of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) - F-North, F-South, L, M-East, M-West, and N - will be affected from 10 am on May 5 to 4 pm on May 6 (30 hours).
The Mumbai civic body has scheduled essential maintenance works during this period, affecting water supply in multiple wards of BMC in eastern Mumbai. According to an official statement issued by the BMC, during this period, water supply will remain suspended in certain areas within the city zone (F-North and F-South Wards) and the eastern suburbs (L, M-East, M-West, and N Wards). Additionally, water supply will be provided at reduced pressure in other specific locations.
The BMC has undertaken work to operationalise the water tunnel from Amar Mahal to Wadala, Parel, as well as to Trombay and the Turbhe elevated reservoir. As part of this, 1800 mm diameter pipelines will be connected, along with other allied works.
To facilitate the work, the 1800 mm pipeline supplying the Turbhe elevated reservoir and the 1200 mm pipeline supplying the low-level reservoir will be temporarily shut. The work will be carried out over 30 hours, from 10 am on May 5 to 4 pm on May 6.
