Thane Traffic Police have announced traffic restrictions for Eid-e-Milad 2026 processions in several areas. Motorists across Thane district will face major traffic restrictions and diversions on Wednesday, August 26. The restrictions will be in place across Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Vitthalwadi, Rabodi, and Mumbra, with several roads witnessing no-entry restrictions between 2 pm and 10 pm.
Officials said that traffic will be diverted through alternative routes to ensure the smooth movement of processions and maintain road safety.
In Bhiwandi, heavy vehicles heading towards the city will face restrictions at several key points, including Ambadi Naka, Parol Phata, Jambholi Naka, Chavindra Naka, and Ranjnoli Naka. Restrictions will also apply to buses, autorickshaws, and other vehicles on selected routes during the procession.
In Kalyan, vehicles travelling towards Patripul, APMC Market, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk will be diverted through the Govindwadi bypass. Temporary traffic and parking restrictions have also been announced along the procession route in Vitthalwadi.
In Rabodi, vehicles travelling towards Akashganga and Rabodi through KV Villa Naka will be diverted via Minatai Thakre Chowk Road. Meanwhile, in Mumbra, heavy vehicles and buses entering the area through Retibunder and Y Junction will face restrictions. Such traffic will be diverted through the Mumbra bypass.
The traffic restrictions have been introduced to facilitate the Eid-e-Milad processions and prevent congestion on key roads. Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and use the designated alternative routes.
Thane Traffic Police have appealed to the commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel deployed along the affected routes and follow instructions during the restrictions.
Thane citizens can now report traffic violations directly via WhatsApp. Authorities have issued 18 official numbers for different traffic subdivisions. According to Thane traffic authorities, the complaints will be verified by the officer concerned, and accordingly, e-challan action will be initiated.
The initiative was launched on the directions of Thane Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbre and Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Dnyaneshwar Chavan.
Citizens can report violations including wrong-side driving, triple-seat riding, fancy or unauthorised number plates, tinted glass, parking in no-parking zones, double parking, and vehicles obstructing traffic. Information about other traffic violations can also be shared with the traffic subdivision concerned.
