In spite of the beefed up security at Mumbai Airport's Terminal 2 (T2), a 40-year-old man attempted to enter the terminal without a ticket on Saturday.

At around 12.25 pm, Satish James Chande approached British Airways staff members near Gate number 2 at the departure lounge. According to the officials present at the spot, Chande told the staff that he should be allowed to enter the terminal.

Assuming that he is a genuine passenger, the airline staff asked Chande for his ticket and documents. Chande, who had neither, proceeded to argue with the staff and security officials.

"The man was not only rude, but also seemed suspicious. He did not have a single document with him. He also claimed that he will attack the terminal if he is not allowed in," said a senior security official who was present at the T2, on condition of anonymity. And to top it off, a physical search revealed that Chande was carrying forged versions of documents such as the Certificate of Service (Serviceman- Sainik) and ID cards with him. He was handed over to Sahar Police, who found out that Chande was a resident of Airoli.

The police called his brother Santosh Chande who, in turn, informed the police that his brother's full name is Satish Narayan Chande. "Chande was undergoing treatment at the Mulund General Hospital for mental illness since 2007," said a policeman, on condition of anonymity.

CISF alerted
In a separate development, the local police and CISF were asked to increase security around the airport after Force One sounded an alert based on the movement of six suspicious people in Dharavi.
