Thane Traffic Police has announced a series of traffic restrictions, route diversions and no-parking regulations in Bhiwandi city on June 26 to facilitate the Muharram procession and ensure smooth movement of traffic.
According to the traffic advisory issued by the Thane Traffic Police, a large number of participants are expected to take part in the Muharram (Tazia) procession within the Bhiwandi Traffic Sub-Division limits. The restrictions have been imposed to prevent traffic congestion and maintain public convenience during the event.
The traffic control measures will come into effect from 1 pm on June 26 and will remain in force until the conclusion of the procession.
The police said that all heavy, medium and light vehicles, including cars, auto-rickshaws and two-wheelers entering Bhiwandi city from Ranjanoli Naka, will not be permitted to enter the city during the restriction period.
State Transport (ST), KDMT and TMT buses will also be stopped at Ranjanoli Naka.
Vehicles will be diverted via Mankoli Naka on the Mumbai-Nashik Bypass Highway through Anjurphata, Vasai Road, or via Ovali Khind, Ovali village, Tadali Jakat Naka and Pipeline Road to reach their destinations.
ST, KDMT and TMT buses will drop passengers at Ranjanoli Naka before turning back.
All heavy vehicles travelling towards Bhiwandi city through Wada Road will be stopped at Ambadi Naka. Vehicles approaching the city through Nadi Naka on Wada Road will be diverted at Parol Phata.
Heavy vehicles will be rerouted through National Highway 8 or the municipal pipeline road from Ambadi Naka.
Light vehicles will be diverted through Khoni village, Talvali Phata and Kamba Road before proceeding via Vasai Road, Karivali, Vishwa Bharati junction and Gorsai village towards their destinations.
The advisory stated that all vehicles, including ST buses entering Bhiwandi through Vadpa Check Post, will be diverted at Dhamangaon Pipeline Naka and Chavindra Naka.
Vehicles will be directed towards Wada Road through the pipeline route before proceeding further.
ST buses will drop passengers at Chavindra Jakat Naka and return from the same point.
Meanwhile, heavy vehicles approaching Bhiwandi from Mumbai and Thane through the Old Thane-Agra Road will be stopped at Anjurphata.
These vehicles will be diverted via Karivali Jakat Naka, Vasai Road and the brick kiln route.
Light vehicles, including cars, auto-rickshaws, two-wheelers and TMT or ST buses, will be diverted at Narpoli. Buses will terminate services at the designated point, while other vehicles will proceed through Devji Nagar, Sainath Society and Kamatghar Road.
The Thane Traffic Police has prohibited parking of any vehicle along both sides of the procession route stretching from Shantinagar to the Kotergate Toll Plaza.
Parking will also be prohibited on the route between the Bhiwandi New ST Stand and the Kotergate Toll Plaza.
The restrictions will not apply to police vehicles, fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, green corridor operations, oxygen transport vehicles and other essential service vehicles, the police said.
