A truck caught fire while welding work was underway at a garage in Kalwa, Thane, on Monday, officials said. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The fire broke out at Jagdamba Garage near Kharegaon Toll Naka, Retibandar, where vehicle MH 04 MH 2435 had been brought for repairs, according to the Thane Municipal Corporation Disaster Management Cell.
Fire brigade and disaster management personnel rushed to the spot with one fire engine and two rescue vehicles and managed to bring the blaze under control.
The fire was fully extinguished with coordinated efforts, officials confirmed.
In a separate incident, a fire broke out in an air-conditioning unit of a residential building in the Juhu area in Mumbai last week, leaving eight people injured, officials said.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), the incident was reported at 7.43 am on June 11 at Manisha Building on JVPD Road No 12 near Arogya Nidhi Hospital.
Officials said the fire was confined to an air-conditioning unit on the sixth floor of the ground-plus-11-storey building.
MFB declared it a Level-1 fire call at 7.53 am.
The blaze was brought under control and fully extinguished by 11.30 am after several hours of firefighting operations.
Fire brigade teams, police, Adani Electricity Distribution Company personnel, ward staff, PWD officials, and 108 ambulance services were deployed at the site to manage the situation and assist in rescue operations.
A total of eight residents were injured and were treated at Bharati Arogya Hospital. While two people were discharged after outpatient treatment, six others were admitted and are reported to be in stable condition.
Those injured include elderly residents and women, all of whom are currently under medical care.
Officials said that the situation is under control and further details regarding the cause of the fire are awaited.
The same day, a fire broke out in the meter box room of a residential building in Thane. No injuries were reported in the incident, according to officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation's Disaster Management Cell.
The fire was reported at around 12.02 pm at Ganesh Krupa Society, a ground-plus-seven-storey residential building located in the Kashish Park area on Lal Bahadur Shastri Road near Teen Hath Naka in Thane West.
Authorities said the blaze was confined to the meter box room, where electrical wiring was affected.
