Several Western Railway (WR) services have been partially affected due to ongoing redevelopment work at Surat railway station, including the launching of a through roof between Platform Nos. 2, 3 and 4, officials said on Thursday.
According to a press release issued by Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek, a few trains will continue to be short-terminated or short-originated at Udhna station during the work period.
Train No. 12935 Bandra Terminus-Surat Superfast Express, operating up to June 17, will be short-terminated at Udhna station. As a result, the service will remain partially cancelled between Udhna and Surat stations.
Train No. 20925 Surat-Amravati Superfast Express, running up to June 14, will short-originate from Udhna station and remain partially cancelled between Surat and Udhna.
Similarly, Train No. 20926 Amravati-Surat Superfast Express, operating up to June 15, will be short-terminated at Udhna station, leading to partial cancellation between Udhna and Surat.
Western Railway announced revised timings for 24 pairs of trains running in both directions due to the implementation of Konkan Railway's annual monsoon timetable.
According to Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek, the revised schedule will remain effective from June 15 to October 20.
The temporary changes have been introduced because of speed restrictions imposed on the Konkan Railway network during the rainy season to ensure safer train operations.
Every year, Konkan Railway introduces a special monsoon timetable because heavy rainfall, waterlogging, landslides and difficult terrain can affect train movement along the route. To enhance passenger safety, trains are required to operate at reduced speeds in certain sections. As a result, arrival and departure timings of several trains running through the Konkan corridor have been revised.
The changes will impact many important trains connecting western, northern and southern India.
The revised timetable affects train operations at several important Western Railway stations, including Ratlam, Vadodara, Surat, Bharuch, Vapi, Valsad, Palghar, Vasai Road, Ahmedabad, Anand, Ankleshwar, Boisar, Dahanu Road, Viramgam, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Hapa, Gandhidham, Porbandar and Veraval.
Many trains will arrive and depart later than their regular schedules during the monsoon period. Revised timings have been notified for all 24 train pairs operating through the affected section.
