The rainfall activity in Mumbai picked up towards the end of the week after a brief lull

According to the latest weather forecast, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) will experience light to moderate rain initially, but the intensity is likely to increase by the weekend, with potential for heavy rainfall at isolated locations

The city recorded an average rainfall of 25 mm between 8 am on Thursday and 8 am on Friday

Meanwhile, a low tide of 1.96 metres is expected at 7.38 pm this evening and a high tide of 3.67 metres is likely at 1.15 am on Friday

As the monsoon gradually approaches, the city may witness an increase in rainfall activity over the coming days

However the IMD predicts that the southwest monsoon's total rainfall across the country will likely be 106 percent of the Long Period Average (LPA), with a possible variation of plus or minus 4 perecnt. This suggests an above-normal monsoon season

This indicates that above-normal rainfall is most likely across the country as a whole during the monsoon season (June to September) of 2025

Meanwhile, for the period of June to September 2025, most parts of Mumbai are very likely to experience normal to above-normal rainfall

Amidst the downpour, residents in various parts of the city were seen heading to work and school, welcoming the rain as a much-needed respite from the scorching summer heat
